Clear loser in April: Coal
Clean beats coal. For the first time ever, clean energy in April supplied more of our electricity that coal. Solar, wind and hydroelectric power in the U.S. generated more than 68 million megawatts in April, far more than the 60 million (still too much) supplied by coal.
Barking up the right tree
Swiss researchers said this month that a global reforestation effort could absorb 2/3 of all CO2 humans have spewed into the atmosphere in the past two centuries. "Forest restoration is by far our most powerful planetary solution today," says Tom Crowther, a professor at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich and author of the new study on the power of reforestation.
